Over the years, Rex has focused primarily on civil litigation on the plaintiff's side throughout California and the United States, but since 2018 has principally been involved in fire-related litigation. He possesses a Juris Doctorate degree from Empire College School of Law in Santa Rosa, California, Master of Arts degrees from the University of California, San Diego and the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego. He has been Professor of Constitutional Law and Legal History at Empire College School of Law since 2007 and has authored and published seven books on legal and historical topics, including a history of the Sonoma County (California) coast and a biography of Texas and California frontier lawyer Duncan Wellington Perley. He is currently employed at Robins Cloud’s Santa Rosa Office.
